'Plated Jupiter-Vesta Group', Bocciarelli groupe 2. VESA (sic!) P R QVIRITIVM Veiled, diademed and draped bust of Vesta to right; before, burning torch. Rev. I O MAX CAPITOLI-NVS The Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus on the Capitoline Hill: distyle temple with wreath in pediment and acroteria in the form of aphlasta; within, statue of Jupiter seated left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and scepter in his left. Holed and with some breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.

An interesting minor detail about this coin is that while it was struck from the same die pair as lot 1167 above, it shows the obverse die in an earlier state with a clear spelling error (VESA instead of VESTA). This was later noticed and corrected by a die cutter, who squeezed in a small clumsy T (looking more like an I) between S and A, as can be seen on the previous lot.
